Gara Danielle
When Gara Rakow began designing jewelry seven years ago, she had no idea that what started as a hobby would result in a jewelry line sold to stores around the world. After Gara, a native New Yorker, moved to Los Angeles, she merged her favorite New York City past-time, shopping at flea markets & vintage stores, with the more laid-back style of southern California. With a wire-wrapping technique she taught herself, Gara began creating pieces for fun that were literally bought off her neck. “I had no idea that this would blossom into a business, or that people would respond to my jewelry” Gara admits. “I started making my own jewelry only because I wanted something different that really captured my personal sense of style, and people have really responded towards my jewelry for that same reason.”
The result is Gara Danielle Jewelry, an extensive collection of original accessories-from knotted necklaces and bangles to wire-wrapped earrings and charms bracelets. Most recently, Gara has added a line of tie & elastic headwraps and plans to expand into fine jewelry.
The Gara Danielle collection can be found at an eclectic mix of retail outlets including Intermix, nationwide; Barney’s New York, nationwide; Henri Bendel, NYC; and Ron Herman/Fred Segal, CA. Her jewelry has been continuously featured in magazines such as In Style, Lucky, Vogue, Marie Claire, US Weekly, and Harper’s Bazaar. Celebrity clientele includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, and Cameron Diaz.
