Rapz
Rapz was founded in 1999 by Amireh Parstabar with the goal of redefining the look of handcrafted jewelry. Inspired by her passion for creatively combining colors and textures, a unique style was born. By blending pearls and semi-precious stones in these multi-wrapped necklaces (hence the name Rapz), Amireh's many original designs instantly attracted the interest of friends and strangers alike.
"Anytime I design, whether its clothes, jewelry, or a flower arrangement, the first challenge I give myself is how I can mix textures, patterns and colors which are not commonly seen together in a symbiotic way?" Amireh explains. "If I love it, then it's almost in the line... if I still love it the next day it has passed the test."
With the ever increasing demand for Amireh's designs through simple word of mouth, she knew it was time to premiere her line. In 1999 Rapz officially launched onto the scene with its first show at The California Mart in Los Angeles. Amireh's original concept has since evolved into a complete jewelry line, which includes bracelets, necklaces, earrings and rings.
Since its launch, Rapz has been featured in many fashion magazines including: Glamour, Mademoiselle, Vogue and In-Style. Rapz is also currently available at: Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus catalog, Henri Bendel, Fred Segal, Nordstrom, Anthropology, Bloomingdale's and many upscale specialty boutiques.
Rapz necklaces and earrings have also accented the style of many celebrities including: Lisa Marie Presley, Reese Witherspoon and Julia Stiles.
Born in Abadan, Iran, Amireh came to the United States with her family in 1982. She became interested in jewelry design while studying fashion at Otis Parsons in Los Angeles, CA. After graduating she designed contemporary sportswear for few different clothing line. All the while she was always compelled to pursue her original passion of jewelry design. She set out to fulfill this passion in 1999.
She currently designs Rapz signature pieces out of her studio in downtown Los Angeles.
